I want to ship my motorcycle from USA to UK. Is it worth the hassle?

I have a 1996 Kawaski Ninja ZX7 and want to bring it to England as I am moving there. I understand that all vehicles imported into the UK must pass a SVA test to EU Standards. Does this mean the bike has to be modified to meet EU standards while in the US or once I’m there.?

How do I find out how many modifications are necessary and is it worth the hassle and expense? I paid $4000 for the motorbike.
